From September 1 to 7, the city of Gabala hosted the 10th anniversary art symposium, dedicated this year to the theme “Paintings Inspired by SAVALAN Wines.” This significant event once again confirmed that in Azerbaijan, art and winemaking intertwine, creating a unique cultural tradition.
The symposium brought together 13 distinguished masters of the brush. Among them were People’s and Honored Artists of Azerbaijan: Aliyar Alimirzoyev, Museyib Amirov, Elena Khagverdiyeva, and Vugar Muradov. The line-up also featured renowned artists such as Elnur Babayev, Tarana Agayeva, Emin Askerov, and Elnur Mahmudov. Representing the younger generation—whose creativity has already attracted attention in the art world—were Bahruz Kengerli, Reykhan Aslanova, Magomed Ali Israfilov, and Khagan Bayramov. Continuing a cherished tradition, Vahid Novruzov, professor at Çanakkale 18 Mart University (Turkey), also took part in the symposium.
Throughout the week, the artists immersed themselves in the atmosphere of the region: they visited SAVALAN – ASPI Winery, the wine museum, and the vineyards, while also exploring the natural and historical treasures of Gabala. Everything they saw and experienced found expression in their works.
The result was 26 unique artworks that captured both the beauty of Azerbaijani winemaking and the inspiration drawn from this remarkable land. The symposium concluded with a ceremonial presentation of certificates and diplomas, which became symbols of recognition and part of the memorable anniversary celebration.
