International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC) has been held for 48 years. Being the leading one of a kind, the competition is aimed at improving the quality and the craftsmanship of manufacturers in the production of the world’s best wines, spirits and liquors. IWSC receives applications from 90 countries worldwide annually and treats each one with respect and attention.
Its purpose lies in promotion of the best wines and strong alcoholic beverages from around the world. The essence of the competition is in two stages: the first stage is a professional blind tasting (samples are given to judges in numbered identical glasses), and the second stage is detailed laboratory analysis (chemical and microbiological). If the analysis of beverage does not comply with European standards, it can lose its nominations and, in some cases, may be removed from the list of Competition participants. Laboratory analysis is provided by the independent laboratory Corkwise.
