The Savalan Valley with its exceptional terroir and climatic condition is the birthplace of one of Azerbaijan’s most unique wines.
The vineyards are located in the Savalan Valley, which is protected from dry winds by the Greater Caucasus Mountains and is surrounded on both sides by the river Turyanchay.
Over time, the river has left behind layers of sand, fine gravel, and clay, which intermingle with earlier calcareous rocks to create a wide variety of terroirs.
Of the existing 11 climatic zones, nine are present in Azerbaijan, four in the Gabala region, which is one of the unique characteristic features of the Gabala climate. At 400m above sea level, there is an ideal balance of rain, sun, and average annual temperatures. The similarities of the climate with that in southern Italy inspired the founders to partner with Italian companies and experts to study the terroir and select the most suitable grape varieties.
