SAVALAN Grappolo – the Azerbaijani spirit with an Italian accent

Aromatic, strong and delicate – such is Grappolo by SAVALAN. Whilst brandy may put one in mind of Britain and chacha speaks to Georgia, grappa is all about Italy, and now SAVALAN brings to true connoisseurs its own, original, version of grappa. This is an Azerbaijani jazz improvisation on grappa, as it were, with innovations and traditions interwoven in each note that will play on your palate.

The name of the drink – Grappolo – means ‘a droplet of grappa’ and is a gallant nod of recognition to the Italian traditions. At the same time, though, it is a respectful but also firm statement of the uniqueness of our approach and product. We at SAVALAN have developed a production process of our own which makes our Grappolo stand out amongst pomace brandies.

The SAVALAN distillery masters use complex steam distillation stills and apply a patented method in order to capture and preserve the most delicate grape fragrance and aroma nuances. It all begins with the meticulous selection of grapes,of the Traminer sort in our case. The innovative ice filtration technology in use is one of the distinct – and distinctive – features of the Grappolo by SAVALAN. It purges the product of natural oils and impurities, and the resulting drink, which is as transparent as the air in the Savalan Valley, sparkles in your glass like a liquid diamond.

What’s in the end, then? In the end, we have a refined distillate, a drink with a rich taste the first mouthful of which carries the passion that dissolves to tenderness. The bouquet of the Grappoloby SAVALAN has the scent of white flowers enriched with notes of tropical fruit.

It is recommended that the Grappolo should be served at the temperature of 10°C to achieve optimal tasting experience.

Whilst served as a digestive traditionally, just like the fellow grape distillates, the SAVALAN Grappolo also demonstrates amazing universality at a table. Our drink absolutely ‘goes’ so wonderfully with meat courses including chargrilled lamb ribs, for instance. Besides, you can drink the Grappolo with the traditional Azerbaijani cuisine dishes. This makes the distillate that we produce an ideal companion to everyday dinners as well as a welcome guest at special occasions. As a digestive, it caps any feast fabulously by promoting digestion, which is why it is a digestive, after all, is it not? And, of course, just like grappa, you can take SAVALAN pomace brandy with coffee – either in a glass to go with a cup of strong coffee or as added to your espresso. After all, they have Café Corretto with grappa in it in Italy, so, let’s have Café Azerbaigianetto with Grappolo in it here – or Café Azerbaigianese, if you are in a pernickety mood.

Those who have not met our drink yet but feel interested and would fancy a personal acquaintance on reading our small article will be very welcome at our Boutique at 4/22, Hasanoghlu Street where the experienced staff will help you discover all the nuances of this exceptional distillate. Once there, you will understand why SAVALAN is busy setting new standards in the art of creating the finest spirits.

Well, that’ll be all for now though we are not saying goodbye. Rather, we wish those who are only about to meet Grappolo a marvellous tasting experience and those who are good friends with Grappolo already we wish a continued pleasant company of this drink.

Best regards,

Fuad Seyidaliyev and Arif Rahimov
