The culturally and socially oriented “ART Zone” Symposium was launched for the first time in September 2019 in Gabala. The main goal of the project is to bring together famous contemporary Azerbaijani painters in beautiful locations across various regions of the country to create new works on free themes and to promote the craftsmanship of the modern Azerbaijani painting school to the current generation.
The participating artists are invited for a week to the country’s enchanting regions, where they create new artworks inspired by the breathtaking beauty around them. During the symposium days, the artists get acquainted with the historical monuments, culture, folklore, unique geography of the regions, and most importantly, with the simple people of these places. Naturally, it’s impossible not to create beautiful paintings in such an atmosphere!
After the symposium ends, the created works are exhibited in the local Culture Palaces of the respective regions and presented to the public.
During the “ART Zone” symposium, creative evenings are organized with the participation of well-known art critics of the country to make the event even more interesting. Additionally, talented musicians perform concert programs for the artists and guests, creating a festive mood throughout the symposium week.
Moreover, during the event, “Master Classes” are held at the venue for young people studying in local secondary schools who are passionate about painting. This has a social character and facilitates direct communication and acquaintance between young talents and renowned artists, playing a significant role in their future success.
This art project, which has gathered a well-defined audience in the cultural sphere, is widely covered by the country’s leading media resources — television channels, radio stations, information portals, as well as specialized art bloggers on social networks who share countless detailed reports, articles, and TV features.
Starting from 2024, within the framework of cooperation with one of the world’s leading domain zones “.ART” (dot ART – www.art.art), “ART Zone” has undergone a small rebranding and successfully continues its activities under the name “.ART Zone” (dot ART Zone).
So far, the “ART Zone” Symposium has been held in the cities of Gabala, Gusar, Masalli, Tovuz, Guba, and Khankendi. This year, it is preparing to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The 10th symposium will again take place in Gabala and, as traditionally, with the support of the official partner of the symposiums held here for several years — “SAVALAN – ASPI Winery” — in the last week of August.
